About this study

This study aims to understand the safety of antipsychotic medications and how consistently patients take these medicines in Egypt. It will involve adult patients aged 18-65 years who are receiving antipsychotic medications at participating psychiatric hospitals in Cairo.

The study will assess the side effects experienced by patients, their medication-taking habits, and their quality of life. Information will be collected through questionnaires, medical records, clinical assessments, and available laboratory test results.

The study is observational, meaning that participants will continue to receive their usual medical care, and the researchers will not assign any new treatment or medication as part of the study. Data will be collected at one point in time, without planned follow-up visits for research purposes.

The findings may help healthcare professionals better understand the side effects of antipsychotic medications, identify factors associated with medication non-adherence, and improve patient counseling and treatment monitoring. Participation is voluntary, and eligible patients will be asked to provide written informed consent. Participants' privacy and confidentiality will be protected.
