Accounts and saved trials
An account is optional for your first few searches in a visit and needed after that. When you sign up, AzTrials stores your name, email address and a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself). If you tell us you are a doctor or other prescriber, it also stores the credential, specialty and NPI you enter, and optionally your practice and state. NPIs are public identifiers published by CMS. Trials you save are stored with your account. Logging in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days.
Searches
Searches run on AzTrials’ own copy of the ClinicalTrials.gov registry; your search text is not sent to the registry. Search text is not sent to analytics either: analytics records only the kind of search and the number of results, and page addresses are recorded without search terms.
Healthcare professional recognition
AzTrials is funded by advertising, including advertising for healthcare professionals. For visitors in the United States, the server looks up the visitor’s IP address with an identity service that may recognise a healthcare professional. For visitors who are signed in, or who arrive through a link marked for verified professionals, a recognised NPI is converted to a one-way SHA-256 hash, recorded with the page address, specialty and approximate location, and passed to advertising partners in hashed form. The unhashed NPI is not sent to advertising partners. Nothing is shared with advertising partners for visitors who reject advertising cookies.
Analytics
Google Analytics shows which pages are visited and which features are used. Google signals and ad personalisation from analytics are turned off.
Advertising
Ads are served by Google Ad Manager and partners that bid for ad space through Prebid. They may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, and, if you allow it, to personalise them.
Your choice
A banner lets you accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland these are off until you accept; elsewhere they are on unless you reject them. Change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer.
