About this study
Official title: The Effect of Health Belief Model-Based HPV Infection and Vaccination Education on University Students' Knowledge and Health Beliefs: A Quasi-Experimental Study
This study aimed to examine changes in knowledge and health beliefs (perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, and barriers) regarding HPV infection and cervical cancer among students residing in a university dormitory following a planned education program based on the HBM.
RQ1: Do students' HPV knowledge levels differ across pre-education, post-education, and month-three measurements? RQ2: Do students' HPV-related health beliefs (perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, and barriers) differ across the same time points?
- Being tested
- Educational intervention HPV
- Medical subject headings
- Papillomavirus Infections
What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
Educational intervention HPVOther
Educational intervention on human papillomavirus (HPV), including information on HPV infection, transmission, prevention, vaccination, screening, and risk factors.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Education group | Experimental | Participants in this arm will receive a structured educational intervention on human papillomavirus (HPV), including information on HPV infection, transmission, prevention, vaccination, screening, and risk factors. Participants' baseline knowledge will be assessed using a pre-test before the intervention. Following completion of the educational intervention, the same or equivalent assessment will be administered as a post-test to evaluate changes in HPV-related knowledge. Receives: Other: Educational intervention HPV |
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Change in HPV-Related Knowledge Score
Change in participants' HPV-related knowledge scores from pre-test (baseline) to post-test, assessed using the HPV knowledge questionnaire. Higher scores indicate a higher level of HPV-related knowledge.
Measured: Baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention
Change in Health Beliefs Regarding HPV and HPV Vaccination
Changes in participants' health beliefs regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV vaccination will be assessed using the Health Belief Model Scale for Human Papillomavirus and its Vaccination (HBMS-HPVV) at baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention.
Measured: Baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention

| Educational intervention HPVEducational intervention on human papillomavirus (HPV), including information on HPV infection, transmission, prevention, vaccination, screening, and risk factors. | Other | Education group |
Primary outcome
Change in HPV-Related Knowledge Score
Time frame: Baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention
Change in participants' HPV-related knowledge scores from pre-test (baseline) to post-test, assessed using the HPV knowledge questionnaire. Higher scores indicate a higher level of HPV-related knowledge.
Change in Health Beliefs Regarding HPV and HPV Vaccination
Time frame: Baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention

The sponsor lists 5 inclusion and 3 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: opening soon, as of the sponsor's last update on 28 Oct 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
Are results available for this study?
This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
Contact Aysu Buldum Res. Assist., PhD (+905377147344, aysukoptur@mersin.edu.tr), or a site near the patient. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Change in HPV-Related Knowledge Score (time frame: Baseline, immediately after the educational intervention, and 3 months after the intervention). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 28 Oct 2026.
