About this study
Official title: The Effect Of Low-Fidelity Simulation Education On Nursing Students' Knowledge Level And Learning Satisfaction Regarding Pressure Injuries Randomized Controlled Trial
The nursing education curriculum comprises both theoretical and practical courses designed to educate and prepare nursing students for their professional roles, functions, and responsibilities. Simulation, in particular, offers nursing students the opportunity to practice various essential clinical skills and decision-making processes in a safe environment, without posing an immediate risk to patients. Simulation-based training has been reported to be effective in teaching about pressure injuries. While the significance, staging, and care and treatment approaches regarding pressure injuries are addressed theoretically within nursing curricula, it is not always possible to provide all students with the opportunity to observe and experience pressure injuries at various stages in clinical practice settings. Therefore, teaching the stages of pressure injuries and the associated care and treatment processes through simulation applications in a laboratory setting is considered a significant educational strategy.
This study aims to determine the impact of low-fidelity simulation training on nursing students' knowledge levels regarding pressure injuries and their satisfaction with the learning experience.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
Simulation-Based TrainingOther
The intervention group will be provided with information regarding the research prior to the training. A pre-test-specifically the 2021 version of the Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test-will be administered. Subsequently, the intervention group will receive training on pressure injuries, supported by simulation and developed based on existing literature.
Immediately following the simulation session, a questionnaire assessing satisfaction with the training methods will be administered; two weeks later, the 2021 version of the Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test will be administered again.
Traditional TrainingOther
The control group will be informed about the research prior to the training. A pre-test-specifically the 2021 version of the Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test-will be administered. Subsequently, the control group will receive traditional training on pressure injuries, developed based on existing literature. This traditional method will be delivered via a PowerPoint presentation, which will be supplemented with visual aids depicting pressure injuries.
Immediately following the training, a "Satisfaction with Training Methods" questionnaire will be administered; two weeks later, the 2021 version of the Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test will be administered again.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Simulation Group | Experimental | Participants in this group will receive standard theoretical training followed by a simulation-based pressure injury scenario Receives: Other: Simulation-Based Training |
| Control Group | Active comparator | Participants in this group will receive traditional/lecture-based theoretical training on pressure injury prevention. Receives: Other: Traditional Training |
