About this study

Official title: Patient Education on Postoperative TSH Suppression Therapy for Differentiated Thyroid Cancer Using Science Popularization Videos: A Prospective, Multicenter, Randomized Controlled Trial

The researchers aim to evaluate the performance of two groups of participants after receiving traditional education-one group supplemented with video-based education and the other without. This study will explore the feasibility of using guideline-based public education videos on postoperative TSH suppression therapy for differentiated thyroid cancer in the context of public education regarding thyroid surgery.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. TSH Compliance Rate

The criteria for determining the TSH target achievement rate are based on a combination of three factors: the patient's postoperative recurrence risk stratification, the follow-up time point, and the current TSH test result. Within one year postoperatively, the TSH suppression targets are < 0.1 mU/L for the high-risk group, 0.1-0.5 mU/L for the moderate-risk group, and 0.1-0.5 mU/L (low Tg) or 0.5-2 mU/L (undetectable Tg, lobectomy) for the low-risk group. In statistical analysis, the TSH target range attainment rate = (number of patients with TSH levels within the target range at each follow-up time point / total number of patients followed up at that time point) × 100%

Measured: Postoperative Month 1, Postoperative Month 3, Postoperative Month 6, and Postoperative Month 12

  2. Patient satisfaction

Patient satisfaction following different educational approaches was assessed using a 5-point Likert scale (1-5 scale; the higher the score, the higher the satisfaction).

Measured: Immediately after the educational presentation (post-intervention)

Secondary outcomes (4)
  1. Level of knowledge dissemination

Knowledge assessment consists of 6 multiple-choice questions, 2 true/false questions, and 2 fill-in-the-blank questions to evaluate patients' understanding and awareness of educational topic.

Measured: Postoperative Month 1, Postoperative Month 3, Postoperative Month 6, and Postoperative Month 12

  2. Patient anxiety level

Anxiety scale, thereby assessing the patient's level of anxiety. A 5-point Likert scale was used, with each item scored on a scale of 1 to 5, ranging from "not at all" to "very severe."

Measured: Baseline (before the educational outreach) and immediately after the educational outreach; two assessments total

  3. Patient's Level of Regret After Surgery

Regret Scale, thereby recording the patient's degree of postoperative regret. 1. This was the right decision.

    1. I regret making this choice. 3. If I had the chance to do it over, I would make the same choice. 4. This choice caused me a lot of pain. 5. This was a wise decision. A 5-point Likert scale was used, with each item scored on a scale of 1 to 5; the lower the score, the less regret the respondent felt.

Measured: Baseline (before the educational outreach) and immediately after the educational outreach

  4. Incidence of adverse events in patients

Whether the patient has forgotten to take medication or mistakenly recorded the follow-up appointment time, etc.

Measured: Postoperative Month 1, Postoperative Month 3, and Postoperative Month 6

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 1 inclusion and 3 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: opening soon, as of the sponsor's last update on 16 Sep 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

Are results available for this study?

This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

TSH Compliance Rate (time frame: Postoperative Month 1, Postoperative Month 3, Postoperative Month 6, and Postoperative Month 12). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 16 Sep 2026.
