About this study

Official title: Prediction of Immunotherapy Prognosis in Patients With Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma Based on Functional Liver Volume and Total Liver Volume: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

This multicenter retrospective cohort study aims to evaluate the prognostic value of functional liver volume and total liver volume in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) undergoing immunotherapy. The study explores whether baseline liver volume metrics can effectively predict survival outcomes and treatment responses in this patient population to assist in clinical decision-making.

Read the detailed description

This study retrospectively analyzes the clinical, laboratory, and imaging data of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who received immunotherapy across multiple clinical centers. Pre-treatment imaging data will be utilized to segment and quantify functional liver volume and total liver volume. Statistical and survival analyses will be performed to evaluate the correlation between these volumetric metrics and patient prognosis, including overall survival and progression-free survival, aiming to establish a robust stratification approach for individualized treatment strategies.

What participants receive

What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.

  • Baseline Liver Volume Volumetric AnalysisOther

An observational evaluation based on the quantification of baseline pre-treatment functional liver volume (FLV) and total liver volume (TLV) derived from imaging datasets. These liver volume metrics are analyzed in correlation with clinical data to assess their prognostic potential for treatment response and overall survival in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving immunotherapy. No experimental treatment allocation or clinical intervention is performed.

Study groupRoleWhat they receive
Unresectable HCC Immunotherapy CohortA multicenter retrospective cohort consisting of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who received immunotherapy. Baseline pre-treatment clinical and imaging data are reviewed to segment and evaluate functional liver volume and total liver volume metrics. These volumetric parameters are analyzed to determine their prognostic value regarding survival outcomes and treatment responses in this patient population.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Overall Survival (OS)

Overall survival is defined as the time from the initiation of immunotherapy to the date of death from any cause, or the date of the last follow-up for surviving patients.

    Measured: Up to 36 months

  2. Overall Survival (OS)

Overall survival is defined as the time from the initiation of immunotherapy to the date of death from any cause, or the last follow-up date for surviving patients.

    Measured: Up to 36 months

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

An observational study of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), run by Anhui Provincial Hospital at 1 site in China.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 5 inclusion and 4 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: looking for participants now, as of the sponsor's last update on 24 Aug 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 1 site in China. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

Contact Jizhou Wang, MD (+86-551-62282931, wangjoe@ustc.edu.cn), or a site near the patient. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Overall Survival (OS) (time frame: Up to 36 months). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 24 Aug 2026.
