Deviated Nasal SeptumNCT07745127
Comparative Study - Transseptal Suture Technique Verses Anterior Nasal Packing After Septoplasty
A study testing Trans-septal suture technique and Anterior nasal packing in people with Deviated Nasal Septum and Postoperative Nasal Pain, run by Ghazal Iftakhar at 1 site in Pakistan.
Trial summary
The goal of this clinical trial is to see the outcomes of the two techniques used after septoplasty in terms of postoperative nasal pain and nasal bleeding in the patients with deviated nasal septum of 18 to 50 years of age presented in a tertiary care hospital. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Read more about this study

About this study
Official title: Trans Septal Suture Technique Verses Anterior Nasal Packing After Septoplasty - A Comparative Study
The goal of this clinical trial is to see the outcomes of the two techniques used after septoplasty in terms of postoperative nasal pain and nasal bleeding in the patients with deviated nasal septum of 18 to 50 years of age presented in a tertiary care hospital. The main questions it aims to answer are:
- any significant difference between the two techniques in terms of post operative nasal pain?
- any significant difference between the two techniques in terms of post operative nasal bleeding? Researchers will be comparing the outcomes of these two techniques while participants already admitted in ward will be examined on 1st postoperative day.

- Trans-septal suture technique, Anterior nasal packing
- Keywords
- septoplasty, deviated nasal septum (DNS), postoperative nasal pain, postoperative nasal bleeding, anterior nasal packing, merocel, trans-septal suture, hemorrhage

| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Group A = with anterior nasal packing postoperative septoplasty | Active comparator | Group A will consists of 30 participants which will have anterior nasal packing done postoperatively, after septoplasty. Receives: Procedure: Anterior nasal packing |
| Group B = with trans-septal suture technique | Active comparator | Group B will have 30 participants which will have trans-septal suture technique performed in septoplasty. Receives: Procedure: Trans-septal suture technique |
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Post operative Nasal Pain
This will be assessed using Visual Analog scale on first post operative day
Measured: 24 hours after surgery on first post operative day
Secondary outcomes (1)
Post operative nasal hemorrhage
This will be assessed on first post operative day
Measured: 24 hours after surgery on first post operative day
