selective alpha-2 receptor agonists cause changes in intraocular pressure and pupillary size thus may affect patient quality of life.

Read the detailed description

In this research, we will analyze the effect of selective alpha-2 receptor agonists on the human eye and investigate ocular changes over 6 months after its topical use.

Being tested
Low dosage selective alpha-2 receptor agonists topical eyedrop, High dosage selective alpha-2 receptor agonists topical eyedrop
Keywords

Also called Topical selective alpha-2 receptor agonists

Using selective alpha-2 receptor agonists eyedrop in both groups with 0.2% concentration.

  • High dosage selective alpha-2 receptor agonists topical eyedropDrug

Also called Topical selective alpha-2 receptor agonists

Using selective alpha-2 receptor agonists eyedrop in both groups with 0.02% concentration.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Intraocular pressure

Changes in intraocular pressure measured in mmHg by applanation tonometry

Measured: Baseline and 6 months after regular use of the topical eyedrops

Secondary outcomes (1)
  1. Pupillary diameter

Changes in the pupillary diameter measured in mm by handheld pupillometer

Measured: Baseline and 6 months after regular use of the topical eyedrops

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

A study testing Low dosage selective alpha-2 receptor agonists topical eyedrop and High dosage selective alpha-2 receptor agonists topical eyedrop in people with Glaucoma, Suspect and Aberration, Corneal Wavefront, run by Benha University at 1 site in Egypt.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 2 inclusion and 2 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Intraocular pressure (time frame: Baseline and 6 months after regular use of the topical eyedrops). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
