About this study
Official title: Non-interventional Observational Study to Evaluate Change of PSA Levels in Patients With Advanced Prostate Cancer Treated With Bicalutamide in Combination With Medical or Surgical Castration
Prospective, non-comparative, non-interventional, observational study to collect and analyse real life environment data on advanced prostate cancer patients receiving combination treatment of medical or surgical castration and bicalutamide according to routine medical practice in Croatia. The main aim is to evaluate change of PSA level and prescribing practices based on prostate cancer stage.
- Conditions
- Advanced Prostate Cancer
- Keywords
- bicalutamide, PSA, advanced prostate cancer
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
To evaluate change in PSA level following 4-9 months of bicalutamide therapy
Measured: PSA - 2 measures (at the time of bicalutamdie introduction and 4-9 m following bicalutamide)
Secondary outcomes (6)
bicalutamide prescribing practice based on prostate cancer stage
Measured: 1 measure (at the time of bicalutamde th introduction)
to evaluate PSA level after 4-12 weeks of bicalutamide therapy
Measured: PSA - 1 measures (1-3 m following bicalutamide)
to asses time to disease progression based on PSA values
Measured: PSA - 3 measures (at the time of bicalutamdie introduction, 1-3 m and 4-9 m following bicalutamide)
to evaluate percentage of patients with disease progression
Measured: 2 measures at 1st and 2nd visit
to evaluate withdrawals due to adverse events
Measured: 2 measures, at 1st and 2nd visit
to evaluate withdrawals due to Croatian Institute for Health Insurance guidelines for bicalutamide prescription
Measured: 2 measures, at 1st and 2nd visit

Questions about this trial
What is this clinical trial studying?
An observational study of Advanced Prostate Cancer, run by AstraZeneca at 15 sites in Croatia.
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 3 inclusion and 3 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 15 Apr 2010. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
Where is the study taking place?
The record lists 15 sites in Croatia. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
Are results available for this study?
The study is completed, but results are not available in the source record. That does not mean the treatment did or did not work.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
To evaluate change in PSA level following 4-9 months of bicalutamide therapy (time frame: PSA - 2 measures (at the time of bicalutamdie introduction and 4-9 m following bicalutamide)). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 15 Apr 2010.
