Clinical trials: Fluid Overload Pulmonary Edema
Burns
Cardiovascular Biomarkers and Lung Edema in Severe Burns Patients
Burn injury leads to hypovolemic then distributive shock. Fluid resuscitation remains the cornerstone of initial treatment of burn shock.
- Trial name
- CAROLE (NCT03271268)
- Where
- France
- Volunteers
- 36 people

Heart Failure, Edema
Comparing Natriuretic Effects of ER Torsemide to IR Torsemide in Patients With Heart Failure
The primary objective of this study is to learn whether a morning dose of extended-release torsemide enhances renal sodium excretion after lunch (4-8 hours after dosing) compared to immediate-release torsemide.
- Conditions
- Heart Failure, Edema, Pulmonary Congestion, Fluid Overload
- Trial name
- NEXT-HF (NCT06995144)
- Testing
- Extended Release Torsemide Tablets, Immedate Release Torsemide Tablets
- Where
- United States
- Sponsor
- Sarfez Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Heart Failure, Congestive
Influence of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Genotype on Lung Diffusion in Heart Failure
In patients with chronic heart failure ACE-inhibitor treatment improves lung diffusion and prevents pulmonary edema after fluid overload. In the western country, 3 population types of ACE genotypes exist (DD, ID, II).
- Trial name
- NCT00361127
- Testing
- isotonic saline infusion
- Where
- Italy
- Volunteers
- 100 people

Cardiopulmonary Disease, Fluid Overload
Fluid Status and Body Composition Analysis by Bioelectrical Impedance in Patients After Cardiac Surgery (FLUBIACS)
Evaluation of fluid status in cardiac surgery patients using bioelectrical impedance and its impact on postoperative morbidity and mortality
- Trial name
- FLUBIACS (NCT06498375)
- Testing
- Bioelectrical impedance
- Where
- Slovenia
- Volunteers
- 150 people
- Sponsor
- University Medical Centre Ljubljana
Fluid Overload
Ultrasound Lung Fluid Responsiveness During Hysterectomy
Bedside lung ultrasound can detect pulmonary congestion by detecting the appearance of B-lines. Pulmonary edema may occur even without cardiomyopathy or heart failure, especially after excessive fluid administration.
- Trial name
- NCT03429751
- Testing
- 30 ml/Kg/h crystalloid, 10 ml/Kg/h crystalloid
- Where
- Egypt
- Volunteers
- 48 people

- Alaa Mazy
COVID-19
Lung Injury (Pulmonary Edema) in COVID-19: Treatment With Furosemide and Negative Fluid Balance (NEGBAL)
In COVID-19, pulmonary edema has been attributed to "cytokine storm". However, it is known that SARS-CoV-2 promotes angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 deficiency, it increases angiotensin II and this triggers volume overload.
- Trial name
- NCT05304702
- Where
- Argentina
- Volunteers
- 120 people
- Sponsor
- Clinica Colon
Fluid Overload Pulmonary Edema, Fluid Overload
Lung Ultrasound-guided Fluid Therapy in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Patients
A randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effect of using pulmonary ultrasound to guide fluid therapy on distinct variables.
- Conditions
- Fluid Overload Pulmonary Edema, Fluid Overload, Pneumonia, Ventilator-Associated, Fluid Overload Without Edema
- Trial name
- NCT04215692

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH), End Stage Kidney Disease (ESRD)
Euvolemia-Based Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension in Stable Hemodialysis Patients
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a frequent and clinically significant complication in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (HD).
- Conditions

Fluid Overload, POCUS
Concordance and Discordance in the Assessment of Volume Status in Home Dialysis Patients: A Comparison of Modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Scale, Physical Exam, and Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
Fluid overload (when the body has too much fluid), is one of the reasons why people on home dialysis need to go to the hospital. Fluid overload commonly presents as trouble breathing and leg swelling.
- Conditions
- Fluid Overload, POCUS, Lung Ultrasound, Volume Status
- Trial name
- NCT07178470
- Testing
- point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), specifically lung ultrasound (LUS), Modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) Dyspnea scale, Physical Exam
