Abortion, Dilation and Evacuation
Effects of Oxytocin on Bleeding Outcomes During Dilation and Evacuation
Currently, there is very little research to identify ways to decrease blood loss during D\&E (dilation and evacuation) procedures.

- Trial name
- NCT02083809
- Testing
- intravenous oxytocin, Intravenous Fluids and Electrolytes

Pain Alleviation, Dilatation and Evacuation
Use of Nitrous Oxide for Pain Alleviation in Women Undergoing Osmotic Dilator Insertion for Dilatation and Evacuation
A randomised control study aiming to examine whether inhaled N2O/O2 during cervical preparation for second trimester dilatation and evacuation with osmotic dilators (laminaria) alleviates pain and is superior to placebo.
- Conditions
- Pain Alleviation, Dilatation and Evacuation, Laminaria Placement, Nitrous Oxide
- Trial name

Abortion, Dilation and Evacuation
Effect of Prophylactic Tranexamic Acid on Bleeding Outcomes for Dilation and Evacuation
Prophylactic tranexamic acid has shown been shown to reduce maternal mortality from postpartum hemorrhage with no adverse effects, but has not been studied to reduce bleeding complications with dilation and evacuation (D\&E).
- Conditions
- Abortion, Dilation and Evacuation, Hemorrhage, Blood Loss
- Trial name

Abortion, Second Trimester, Procedural Pain
Cervical Preparation for Same-Day Dilation & Evacuation
This is a noninferiority randomized control trial of two cervical preparation methods prior to same-day Dilation \& Evacuation (D\&E). Cervical preparation is a process that softens and dilates the cervix prior to a procedure.
- Conditions
- Abortion, Second Trimester, Procedural Pain, Procedural Complication
- Trial name
- NCT06799052
- Testing
- Transcervical single-balloon catheter, Synthetic osmotic dilators
- Where
- United States
- Volunteers
- 32 people, healthy volunteers welcome
