EFFECTS OF AN OUTDOOR MAT PILATES PROGRAM ON NEUROPHYSIOLOGICAL INDICATORS OF ELDERLY INDIVIDUALS WITH MILD COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT
A study testing Mat Pilates outdoor and Mat pilates closed environment in people with Cognition Disorders, run by Letícia Maria Da Silva at 1 site in Brazil.

- Ages 60 years and older
- All sexes
- No healthy volunteers
- Adult, Older adult
Who may be able to join
- People of both sexes, 60 years of age or older, who have not been diagnosed with dementia. Those with a MOCA score between 18 and 25, which indicates mild cognitive impairment, will be included. Those who can attend Pilates sessions regularly, have not had surgery in the last six months, and have no restrictions recommended by their doctor.

About this study
Introduction: As individuals age, the quality of cognitive function becomes an increasingly important topic. Elderly people, naturally, due to the aging process, may experience a reduction in cognitive function. Through the Pilates Method, greater cognitive performance can be generated, related to concentration and reasoning. Objectives: to evaluate the effects of practicing Mat Pilates outdoors on the neurophysiological parameters of elderly people with mild cognitive impairment. Materials and Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial study. Initially, the participants will be evaluated and the MoCA neurocognitive test will be applied. Before starting the Mat Pilates protocol, participants will undergo neurophysiological analysis, using electroencephalogram. Participants will undergo a group Mat Pilates protocol in the open air, lasting 60 minutes, which will be developed on two days during the week, on non-consecutive days. For each exercise, a series of 10 to 12 repetitions will be performed for each exercise, with a total duration of 6 weeks. At the end of the care protocol, participants will be reassessed

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
Mat Pilates outdoorOther
Participants will undergo a 60-minute group Mat Pilates protocol outdoors, which will be performed on two non-consecutive days during the week. For each exercise, sets of 10 to 12 repetitions will be performed, lasting a total of 6 weeks. The exercises will follow the following order: preparation exercises, mobility exercises, strengthening exercises, and relaxation exercises, all of which will be associated with breathing.
Mat pilates closed environmentOther
Participants will undergo a 60-minute group Mat Pilates protocol, which will be performed on two non-consecutive days during the week. For each exercise, sets of 10 to 12 repetitions will be performed, lasting a total of 6 weeks. The exercises will follow the following order: preparation exercises, mobility exercises, strengthening exercises, and relaxation exercises, all of which will be associated with breathing.

What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Microstate analysis
(1) The average duration for which a given microstate remains stable, (2) the frequency of occurrence of each microstate, regardless of its individual duration, (3) the fraction of the total recording time during which a given microstate is dominant (i.e., coverage), and (4) the global variance explained by each microstate.
Measured: After 6 weeks.
Secondary outcomes (1)
cognitive function screening
Memory, attention, concentration, working memory, executive functions such as planning and organization, visuospatial abilities, language, and orientation to time and place will be assessed.
Measured: After 6 weeks.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 27 Oct 2026.
