About this study
Official title: The Effect of Artificial Intelligence-Based Image Generation on Children's Ecological Footprint Awareness: A Two-Group Randomized Controlled Trial
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of artificial intelligence-based image generation on children's ecological footprint awareness. The study is designed as a two-group randomized controlled trial and will be conducted with children aged 60-72 months attending two public preschools in Turkiye. Children will be randomly assigned to an intervention group or a control group. Children in the intervention group will take part in a 20-minute AI-based image generation activity on ecological footprint topics, while children in the control group will receive no intervention. Ecological footprint awareness will be measured in both groups before the intervention (pretest) and 20 days after the intervention (posttest). The study seeks to determine whether AI-based image generation increases children's ecological footprint awareness.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
AI-Based Image Generation ActivityBehavioural
Children in the intervention group take part in a 20-minute activity in which they create images on ecological footprint topics using an artificial intelligence-based image generation tool. Ecological footprint awareness is measured with the Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale for Children (EKAY-O) before the intervention and 20 days after the intervention.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Intervention Group | Experimental | Children aged 60-72 months who take part in a 20-minute AI-based image generation activity on ecological footprint topics. Pretest before the intervention and posttest 20 days after the intervention. Receives: Behavioral: AI-Based Image Generation Activity |
| Control Group | No intervention | Children aged 60-72 months who receive no intervention. Pretest and posttest are administered at the same time points as the intervention group. |
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Change in Ecological Footprint Awareness Score
Ecological footprint awareness will be assessed with the Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale for Children (EKAY-O). The change in total scale score from pretest to posttest will be compared between the intervention and control groups. Higher scores indicate higher ecological footprint awareness.
Measured: Baseline (pretest, before the intervention) and 20 days after the intervention (posttest)

What does the primary outcome measure?
Change in Ecological Footprint Awareness Score (time frame: Baseline (pretest, before the intervention) and 20 days after the intervention (posttest)). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 27 Oct 2026; AzTrials last refreshed its copy on 6 Nov 2026.
