About this study

Official title: Customized CBCT-Based Assessment of Transverse Discrepancies in Various Malocclusions: A Cross-Sectional Study

This retrospective cross-sectional observational study aims to develop a customized, patient-specific CBCT-based method for assessing skeletal transverse discrepancies independent of dental compensation. A total of 120 previously acquired CBCT scans of patients aged 15-30 years will be evaluated and equally divided into skeletal Class I, Class II, and Class III groups (40 scans per group). The study will assess transverse skeletal and dental relationships using standardized CBCT measurements and will evaluate the intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility of the proposed methodology. The distribution and pattern of transverse discrepancies among the three skeletal classes will also be assessed.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Customized Patient-Specific CBCT-Based Assessment of Skeletal Transverse Discrepancy

Measurement of skeletal transverse discrepancy using a customized, patient-specific CBCT-based approach, independent of dental compensation.

Measured: Baseline (at the time of CBCT acquisition)

Secondary outcomes (1)
  1. Intra- and Inter-Examiner Reproducibility of the Customized CBCT Methodology

Reliability of the methodology assessed by intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility in applying the workflow and performing measurements.

    Measured: 2 weeks

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

An observational study of Transverse Skeletal Discrepancy, run by October University for Modern Sciences and Arts at 1 site in Egypt.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 4 inclusion and 5 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 1 site in Egypt. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

Are results available for this study?

This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Customized Patient-Specific CBCT-Based Assessment of Skeletal Transverse Discrepancy (time frame: Baseline (at the time of CBCT acquisition)). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?

On the ClinicalTrials.gov record for NCT07887308, which also lists 3 linked publications.

Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 21 Oct 2026.
