About this study
Official title: Common Femoral Vein-to-Artery Diameter Ratio for Detection of Elevated Left Ventricular End-Diastolic Pressure: Diagnostic Accuracy Study
This prospective cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study enrolled patients undergoing coronary angiography and left heart catheterization at Burapha University Hospital, Thailand. The diameters of the common femoral vein and common femoral artery were measured using ultrasonography, and the common FVD/FAD ratio was calculated. LVEDP, measured during left heart catheterization, served as the reference standard. An elevated LVEDP (>16 mmHg) was defined as volume overload. Diagnostic performance was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
Ultrasound Measurement of Common Femoral Vein-to-Artery Diameter RatioDiagnostic test
Ultrasound measurement of the common femoral vein and common femoral artery diameters performed in the supine position. The common femoral vein-to-artery diameter ratio is calculated from the measured vessel diameters and evaluated as a diagnostic index for detecting elevated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure. The ultrasound examination is non-invasive and does not involve administration of any therapeutic intervention.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Patients Undergoing Left Heart Catheterization | Adults undergoing clinically indicated coronary angiography and left heart catheterization were enrolled in this prospective cross-sectional diagnostic accuracy study. All participants underwent ultrasound examination of the common femoral vein and common femoral artery to measure their diameters and calculate the common femoral vein-to-artery diameter ratio. Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure was measured during left heart catheterization as the reference standard. No study intervention was administered.
