About this study
Official title: Effectiveness of a Digital Health Coaching Self-Management Program on Healthy Practices and Pregnancy Outcome Among Primiparous Pregnant Adolescents
Adolescent pregnancy can present health challenges for both mothers and their babies. Pregnant adolescents who are experiencing their first pregnancy may need additional support to develop healthy practices, manage pregnancy-related concerns, and prepare for childbirth and motherhood.
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a digital health coaching self-management program designed to support healthy pregnancy practices and improve pregnancy outcomes among primiparous pregnant adolescents.

The study will include 70 pregnant adolescents receiving care at the obstetrics outpatient clinics of Tanta University Hospital, Tanta General Hospital, and El-Mabara Hospital. Participants will be assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. The intervention group will receive a digital health coaching self-management program in addition to routine antenatal care, while the control group will receive routine antenatal care alone.
The program will provide health education and self-management guidance through digital health coaching to encourage healthy pregnancy behaviors, improve knowledge and attitudes toward pregnancy and motherhood, and support appropriate self-care.
Researchers will assess participants' knowledge, attitudes, healthy pregnancy practices, and pregnancy outcomes using structured questionnaires and pregnancy outcome assessments.
The study findings may help healthcare providers identify ways to use digital health coaching to support pregnant adolescents and promote healthy pregnancy practices and maternal and neonatal health.
Read the detailed description
Adolescent pregnancy is an important public health concern associated with potential maternal and neonatal health challenges. Adolescents experiencing their first pregnancy may require additional educational, emotional, and self-management support to develop healthy pregnancy practices and prepare for motherhood.
Digital health coaching provides an opportunity to deliver accessible health education and ongoing support through mobile-based communication. Such interventions may help pregnant adolescents improve their pregnancy-related knowledge, attitudes, self-care behaviors, and adherence to recommended healthy practices.

Digital Health Coaching Self-Management ProgramBehavioural
A digital health coaching self-management program designed for primiparous pregnant adolescents. The program provides pregnancy-related health education and individualized self-management guidance through digital health coaching to promote healthy pregnancy practices, improve knowledge and attitudes toward pregnancy and motherhood, support healthy behaviors, and encourage appropriate antenatal self-care. The intervention is provided in addition to routine antenatal care during pregnancy.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Intervention Group | Experimental | Participants in this arm will receive the digital health coaching self-management program in addition to routine antenatal care. What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Maternal Pain Intensity
Maternal pain intensity will be assessed using a standardized pain assessment scale. Pain scores will be recorded for each mother to determine changes in pain intensity following the intervention. The outcome will compare pain levels between the intervention and control groups at the specified assessment time points.
Measured: Baseline and Days 1-7
