About this study

Official title: Comparison of Combination of Ropivacaine and Dexmedetomidine Versus Ropivacaine and Tramadol in Ultrasound-guided Pericapsular Nerve Group Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Hip Surgeries.

To compare the mean onset of sensory block and mean time to first rescue analgesia between ropivacaine with dexmedetomidine and ropivacaine with tramadol in ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group block for postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing hip surgeries.

Being tested
Pericapsular nerve group block
Medical subject headings
Pain, Postoperative

What participants receive

What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.

  • Pericapsular nerve group blockProcedure or surgery

With the patient supine, a low-frequency curvilinear probe will be placed over the anterior inferior iliac spine and aligned with the superior pubic ramus. The needle will be inserted in-plane,lateral to medial, into the fascial plane between the psoas tendon and the superior pubic ramus, and the drug will be injected after negative aspiration.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Onset of sensory block (time frame: With in 30 minutes). The study lists 3 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
