What participants receive

What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.

  • super-oxidized water (Microcyn) irrigating solutionOther

The difference in concentration of chlorine between NaOCl and super oxidized water such that the concentration of chlorine ions in NaOCl is much higher than that in super-oxidized water. However, considering the 90% reduction in biofilm thickness and 98% reduction in colony count of microorganisms by super-oxidized water as demonstrated

  • 2% chlorhexidine irrigating solutionOther

Chlorhexidine (CHX) has been indicated as an alternative irrigation agent in the preparation of the root canal system, due to its broad-spectrum antimicrobial capacity, dentin tubule disinfection, dentin adsorption, high substantivity, and low toxicity compared to NaOCl. The inability to dissolve organic tissues of the CHX provides controversial in the use of this irrigant, and due to this limitation, some authors do not indicate it as the main irrigation solution in endodontic treatment despite its utility as a final irrigation solution.

  • 2.5% sodium hypochloriteOther

Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is the most common and has been widely used in endodontics for more than 70 years because of its ability to act as a solvent for organic matter and its efficient antimicrobial action, however, at high concentrations, it is likely to irritate periradicular tissues.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Postoperative pain intensity at 6 hours post-instrumentation

A pain chart using numerical rating scale (NRS) will then be used to record the patients' pain level.

The NRS (0-10 scale) consists of a line anchored by two extremes "No pain" and "the worst pain".

Patients will be asked to choose the mark that represented their level of pain from 0 to 10. Pain level will be assigned as follow: 0: no pain, 1-3: mild pain, 4-6: moderate pain, 7-10: severe pain.

    Measured: 6 hours post-instrumentation

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

A study testing super-oxidized water (Microcyn) irrigating solution, 2% chlorhexidine irrigating solution and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite in people with Evaluation of Postoperative Pain and Antimicrobial Efficacy, run by Cairo University at 1 site in Egypt.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 6 inclusion and 5 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: opening soon, as of the sponsor's last update on 1 Oct 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 1 site in Egypt. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

Are results available for this study?

This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

Contact Paunceh S Soliman, PHD candidate (01026999750, paunceh.soliman@dentistry.cu.edu.eg), or a site near the patient. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Postoperative pain intensity at 6 hours post-instrumentation (time frame: 6 hours post-instrumentation). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 1 Oct 2026.
