About this study

Official title: The Relationship Between Performance-Based Balance Tests and Quality of Life in Individuals With Parkinson's Disease

This observational study aims to examine the relationship between performance-based balance test results and quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease. It also seeks to determine which balance test best explains quality of life in this population.

Balance and functional performance will be assessed using the Six Spot Step Test, 30-Second Chair Stand Test, Timed Up and Go Test, Four Square Step Test, Berg Balance Scale, and 3-Meter Backward Walk Test. Quality of life will be evaluated using the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). The findings may help clinicians select appropriate assessment methods and develop rehabilitation programs that address the factors associated with quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease.

What participants receive

What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.

Study groups in NCT07833150
Study groupRoleWhat they receive
Parkinson's Disease GroupIndividuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease who underwent assessments of balance, functional performance, fear of falling, disease severity, depressive symptoms, and quality of life. No intervention was administered as part of this observational study.
Healthy Control GroupAge- and sex-matched healthy individuals without a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease who underwent balance and functional performance assessments. No intervention was administered as part of this observational study.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Health-Related Quality of Life Assessed by the PDQ-39

Health-related quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease will be assessed using the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). The PDQ-39 Summary Index ranges from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating poorer health-related quality of life.

Measured: During the single assessment session (approximately 25 minutes)
