About this study

Brief Summary The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effectiveness of purse-string suture versus transverse mattress suture for achieving hemostasis in women with thinned-out lower uterine segment scars undergoing repeat cesarean section. The study aims to determine whether the purse-string suture technique provides faster and more effective hemostasis than the transverse mattress suture technique.

The main questions it aims to answer are:

  • Does the purse-string suture reduce the time required to achieve hemostasis compared with the transverse mattress suture?
  • Does the purse-string suture reduce the number of additional sutures required to achieve adequate hemostasis? Researchers will compare purse-string suturing with transverse mattress suturing to determine which technique achieves hemostasis more efficiently in women with thinned-out cesarean section scars.

Participants will:

  • Undergo repeat cesarean section under standard surgical care.
  • Be randomly assigned to receive either purse-string suturing or transverse mattress suturing for repair of the thinned-out lower uterine segment after closure of the first uterine layer.
  • Have the time required to achieve hemostasis and the number of sutures required recorded intraoperatively.
  • Receive routine postoperative management according to institutional protocols. Suggested improvement

Although the thesis mentions only time to achieve hemostasis and number of sutures as outcomes, ClinicalTrials.gov prefers that the primary outcome be clearly identified. Since your sample size was calculated using time to achieve hemostasis, I recommend presenting it as:

  • Primary outcome: Time to achieve hemostasis (minutes)
  • Secondary outcomes: Number of sutures required for hemostasis; duration of cesarean section (minutes)
Being tested
Purse-String Suture, Transverse Mattress Suture

What participants receive

What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.

  • Purse-String SutureProcedure or surgery

Purse-string suturing of the thinned-out lower uterine segment during repeat cesarean section.

  • Transverse Mattress SutureProcedure or surgery

Transverse mattress suturing of the thinned-out lower uterine segment during repeat cesarean section.

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Time to Achieve Hemostasis

Time (in minutes) required to achieve complete hemostasis of the thinned-out lower uterine segment following application of the assigned suturing technique during repeat cesarean section.

Measured: During the surgical procedure (intraoperative)

  2. Time to Achieve Hemostasis

Time (in minutes) required to achieve complete hemostasis of the thinned-out lower uterine segment following application of the assigned suturing technique during repeat cesarean section.

    Measured: Intraoperative (during cesarean section)

Secondary outcomes (1)
  1. Number of Sutures Required to Achieve Hemostasis

Number of hemostatic sutures required to achieve complete hemostasis of the thinned-out lower uterine segment during repeat cesarean section.

    Measured: Intraoperative (during cesarean section)

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

A study testing Purse-String Suture and Transverse Mattress Suture in people with Thinned-out Lower Uterine Segment Scar Previous Cesarean Section, run by Natasha Bushra at 1 site in Pakistan.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 5 inclusion and 5 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: under way, not looking for participants, as of the sponsor's last update on 11 Aug 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 1 site in Pakistan. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

Are results available for this study?

This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Time to Achieve Hemostasis (time frame: During the surgical procedure (intraoperative)). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 11 Aug 2026; AzTrials last refreshed its copy on 7 Nov 2026.
