About this study
Official title: Prospective Multicenter Pilot Observational Study Evaluating the Diagnostic Performance of the HeartBeam 3-Lead ECG System in Detecting Acute Coronary Syndrome
The goal of this observational study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the HeartBeam ECG System for detection of acute coronary syndrome. The study will enroll adults who come to the emergency department with chest pain or other symptoms suggestive of ACS. Participants will take the HeartBeam ECG recording within minutes of standard 12-lead ECG.
Read the detailed description
The primary objective of the ALIGN-ACS pilot study is to obtain preliminary estimates of the diagnostic performance (sensitivity and specificity) of the HeartBeam 3-lead ECG System for detecting ACS, relative to an adjudicated gold-standard diagnosis, with the standard 12-lead ECG as comparator.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
ECGDiagnostic test
HeartBeam 3-dimensional 3-lead ECG recording is obtained within 10 minutes of the standard 12-lead ECG in the ED, with optional paired recordings obtained if patient is admitted, at discharge and subsequent follow-ups. Recordings are for research purposes only and are not used for clinical management.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Patients presenting to the ED with symptoms suggestive of ACS | Adults presenting to the emergency department with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are enrolled, and study recordings are obtained. HeartBeam ECG recordings are for research purposes only and will not be used for clinical decision-making. Participants undergo routine ED cardiac evaluation. Final ACS status for the study is determined independently by an adjudication team based on the totality of available clinical data. Receives: Diagnostic Test: ECG |
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Sensitivity and specificity of the HeartBeam ECG for detection of ACS
Sensitivity and specificity of the HeartBeam ECG System for detection of ACS, reported as point estimates with 95% confidence intervals, adjudicated against the gold-standard diagnosis.
Measured: 1 day - acute recording from ED

Questions about this trial
What is this clinical trial studying?
An observational study of Acute Coronary Syndromes, run by HeartBeam, Inc. at 1 site in Serbia.
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 3 inclusion and 2 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: under way, not looking for participants, as of the sponsor's last update on 20 Jul 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
Where is the study taking place?
The record lists 1 site in Serbia. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
Are results available for this study?
This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Sensitivity and specificity of the HeartBeam ECG for detection of ACS (time frame: 1 day - acute recording from ED). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 20 Jul 2026.
