About this study
Official title: The Effect of an Environmentally Based Education Program on Adolescents' Environmentally Friendly Behaviors and Ecological Footprint Awareness: A Quasi-Experimental Study
This study was conducted to determine the effects of an environmentally-based education program implemented for adolescents on their environmentally friendly behaviors and ecological footprint awareness.
Research Hypotheses

Adolescents who received an environmentally-based education program aimed at developing environmentally friendly behaviors and increasing their ecological footprint awareness compared to the control group:
H1-0: There is no difference in terms of environmentally friendly behavior levels.
H2-0: There is no difference in terms of ecological footprint awareness levels. The Environment-Based Education Program, consisting of three weeks and three sessions, was implemented for the intervention group students.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
Environmentally Based Education ProgramBehavioural
Week One: "Environment and Environmental Problems": The first week of the Environmentally Based Education Program aimed to equip participants with the skills to assess the causes of environmental problems and their potential consequences, as well as to help them develop solutions to combat environmental problems.
Week Two: "Developing Environmentally Friendly Behaviors": The second week of the Environmentally Based Education Program aimed to assess what environmentally friendly behaviors are and what can be done to improve them.
Week Three: "Ecological Footprint Awareness": The third week of the Environmentally Based Education Program aimed to evaluate the literal meaning of "ecological footprint" and what can be done to raise awareness on this issue.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Intervention | Experimental | The Environment-Based Education Program, consisting of three weeks and three sessions, was implemented for the intervention group students. Receives: Behavioral: Environmentally Based Education Program |
| Control | No intervention | No intervention was implemented |
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Environmentally Friendly Behavior Scale
The scale, developed to determine participants' environmentally friendly behaviors, consists of a total of 26 items on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 (Not at all) to 5 (A lot). The environmentally friendly behavior scale is rated as "26-46 points is very low," "47-67 points is low," "68-88 points is moderate," "89-109 points is high," and "110-130 points is very high."
Measured: Week after intervention
Secondary outcomes (1)
Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale
It aims to determine ecological footprint awareness levels. The scale consists of 46 questions across five subscales: food, transportation and shelter, energy, waste, and water consumption. The third item on the 5-point Likert-type scale is reverse-scored. As the score on the scale increases, so does the level of ecological footprint awareness.
Measured: Week after intervention

A study testing Environmentally Based Education Program in people with Environmental Contamination and Environment, run by Selcuk University at 1 site in Turkey (Türkiye).
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 1 inclusion and 1 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 17 Nov 2025. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
Where is the study taking place?
The record lists 1 site in Turkey (Türkiye). Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
Are results available for this study?
The study is completed, but results are not available in the source record. That does not mean the treatment did or did not work.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Environmentally Friendly Behavior Scale (time frame: Week after intervention). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 17 Nov 2025.
