About this study
Official title: EVOLVE-MI: A Pragmatic Randomized Multicenter Trial of EVOLocumab Administered Very Early to Reduce the Risk of Cardiovascular Events in Patients Hospitalized With Acute Myocardial Infarction
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of early treatment with evolocumab plus routine lipid management vs routine lipid management alone when administered in the acute setting to reduce myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, arterial revascularization, and all-cause death in subjects hospitalized for an acute myocardial infarction (non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction [NSTEMI] and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction [STEMI]).
- Being tested
- Evolocumab, Routine Lipid Management
- Keywords
- Acute Myocardial Infarction, Cardiovascular Disease, Stroke, Coronary revascularization, Evolocumab, STEMI, NSTEMI, Heart Attack, Pragmatic
- Medical subject headings
- Cardiovascular Diseases, Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction, Non-ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction
What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
EvolocumabDrug
Also called Repatha, AMG 145
Evolocumab will be provided as a single-dose, prefilled autoinjector pen (AI/pen) for fixed dose subcutaneous (SC) injection.
Routine Lipid ManagementDrug
Routine lipid management therapies will be administered at the discretion of the investigator per SoC.
| Study group | Role | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Evolocumab + Routine Lipid Management | Experimental | Participants will receive open-label evolocumab every 2 weeks (Q2W) plus routine lipid management. Receives: Drug: Evolocumab; Drug: Routine Lipid Management |
| Routine Lipid Management | Active comparator | Participants will receive routine lipid management per standard of care (SoC). Receives: Drug: Routine Lipid Management |

Questions about this trial
What is this clinical trial studying?
A Phase 4 study testing Evolocumab and Routine Lipid Management in people with Cardiovascular Disease and Myocardial Infarction, run by Amgen at 120 sites in 3 countries.
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 2 inclusion and 2 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: under way, not looking for participants, as of the sponsor's last update on 6 Oct 2025. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
Where is the study taking place?
The record lists 120 sites in United States, Brazil, Sweden. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
What does this phase mean?
Phase 4 studies take place after a treatment is approved, to learn more about its long-term benefits and risks in everyday use.
Not every study follows the same path, and some studies (observational studies, device studies) have no phase.
Are results available for this study?
This study is still under way. Results are not available in the source record yet.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Total (first and subsequent) composite of myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, any arterial revascularization procedure, and all-cause death (time frame: From Baseline to End of Study (Approximately 3.5 Years)). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 6 Oct 2025.
