Study population: 16 lower extremity wounds were included in the study between January 2016-October 2019 years. All patients were treated by two surgeons in the same clinic. The wounds were those that continued for at least three months of high to moderate exudate and required open management of the secondary intervention. The etiologies of the wounds were diabetic, venous or traumatic ulcers.

About this study
Official title: Direct Use of Autologous Fat Graft on The Treatment of Lower Extremity Wounds
There are a limited number of reports related to the direct use of non-centrifuged adipose tissue graft in the literature. This preliminary study aims to present our experience on the efficacy of autologous fat graft use without centrifuging in the treatment of lower extremity wounds.
Read the detailed description
16 wounds treated with non-centrifuged autologous fat grafts were included in the study. The data were retrospectively analyzed. VAC (vacuum-assisted therapy) or silver-impregnated dressing was used to achieve a healthy wound bed before fat grafting. Autologous fat grafts were harvested from abdominal or gluteal regions of the patients and injected into the wound bed and wound environment. Clinical observation and photograph records were used to follow the wounds.

What participants receive
What participants receive. In a randomised study each person is assigned to one group by chance.
non-centrifuge fat graft application to the woundsProcedure or surgery
Autologous fat grafts were harvested from abdominal or gluteal regions of the patients and injected into the wound bed and wound environment. Clinical observation and photograph records were used to follow the wounds.
What is being measured
The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.
Wounds examination
Collection of the data from clinical observation and photograph records were made to follow the wounds. the observations were made during changing the wound dressing and generally every three days.
Measured: 6 months
Secondary outcomes (2)
Wounds classification according to data from files and photographs
In this season the data will be classified according to the wounds parameters and photograph
Measured: 3 months
Final evaluation and data achieving from files and exam carts
all data will be examined and evaluated whether there is any difference between probable groups
Measured: 3 months

Questions about this trial
What is this clinical trial studying?
An observational study of Wound Healing Delayed, run by Samsun Liv Hospital.
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 3 inclusion and 4 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 21 May 2021. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
Are results available for this study?
The study is completed, but results are not available in the source record. That does not mean the treatment did or did not work.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Wounds examination (time frame: 6 months). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
On the ClinicalTrials.gov record for NCT04896437, which also lists 8 linked publications.
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 21 May 2021.
