Who may be able to join
- AST, ALT, alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin less than or equla to 1.5xULN (isolated bilirubin >1.5xULN is acceptable if bilirubin is fractionated and direct bilirubin <35%).
- Healthy as determined by a responsible and experienced physician, based on a medical evaluation including medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests and cardiac monitoring.
- Male or female between 18 and 65 years of age inclusive, at the time of signing the informed consent.
- A female subject is eligible to participate if she is of:Non-childbearing potential defined as pre-menopausal females with a documented tubal ligation or hysterectomy; or postmenopausal defined as 12 months of spontaneous amenorrhea [in questionable cases a blood sample with simultaneous follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) > 40 MlU/ml and estradiol < 40 pg/ml (<146.8 pmol/L) is confirmatory] or Child-bearing potential and agrees to use one of the contraception methods listed in Section 8.1 for an appropriate period of time (as determined by the product label or investigator) prior to the start of dosing to sufficiently minimize the risk of pregnancy at that point. Female subjects must agree to use contraception until the follow-up visit.
- Body weight greater than or equal to 50 kg for males and 45 kg for females and BMI within the range 18.5- 31.0 kg/m2 (inclusive).
- Capable of giving written informed consent, which includes compliance with the requirements and restrictions listed in the consent form.
Who cannot join
- The subject has a positive pre-study drug/alcohol screen. A minimum list of drugs that will be screened for include amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, cannabinoids and benzodiazepines.
- The subject has participated in a clinical trial and has received an investigational product within the following time period prior to the first dosing day in the current study: 30 days, 5 half-lives or twice the duration of the biological effect of the investigational product (whichever is longer).
- History of sensitivity to any of the study medications, or components thereof, or a history of drug or other allergy that, in the opinion of the investigator or GSK Medical Monitor, contraindicates their participation.
- Use of prescription or non-prescription drugs, including vitamins, herbal and dietary supplements (including St John's Wort) within 7 days (or 14 days if the drug is a potential enzyme inducer) or 5 half-lives (whichever is longer) prior to the first dose of study medication, unless in the opinion of the Investigator and GSK Medical Monitor the medication will not interfere with the study procedures or compromise subject safety.
- If heparin is used during PK sampling, subjects with a history of sensitivity to heparin or heparin-induced thrombocytopenia should not be enrolled.
- History of regular alcohol consumption within 6 months of the study defined as: An average weekly intake of >14 drinks/week for men or >7 drinks/week for women. One drink is equivalent to (12 g alcohol) = 5 ounces (150 ml) of wine or 12 ounces (360 ml) of beer or 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of 80 proof distilled spirits.

About this study
Official title: Relative Bioavailability Study of Three Different Tablet Formulations of GSK1349572 50 mg and the Dose Proportionality of and Effect of Food on the Selected Formulation in Healthy Male and Female Volunteers (ING113674)
This is a single-center, randomized, two part, open-label, crossover study in healthy adult subjects. Part A will evaluate the relative bioavailability of two new tablet formulations compared to the current tablet formulation of GSK1349572 at 50 mg administered as single doses each comprising of two 25 mg tablets. Pharmacokinetic samples from Part A will be analyzed and, if at least one of the new formulations meets appropriate criteria and is selected, Part B will be a single-sequence design conducted to evaluate food effect of the selected new tablet formulation at one dose level. A subset of subjects enrolled in Part A will continue in Part B. Safety evaluations and serial PK samples will be collected during each treatment period. A follow-up visit will occur 7-28 days after the last dose of study drug.

Questions about this trial
What is this clinical trial studying?
A Phase 1 study testing GSK1349572 formulation AP, GSK1349572 formulation AW and GSK1349572 formulation AX in people with Infection, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, run by ViiV Healthcare at 1 site in United States.
The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.
Who may be eligible to take part?
The sponsor lists 6 inclusion and 17 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.
Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?
The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 9 Jun 2017. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.
Where is the study taking place?
The record lists 1 site in United States. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.
What are the possible benefits and risks?
They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.
What does this phase mean?
Phase 1 studies test a treatment in a small group of people for the first time or in a new way, mainly to check safety and find the right dose.
Not every study follows the same path, and some studies (observational studies, device studies) have no phase.
Are results available for this study?
The study is completed, but results are not available in the source record. That does not mean the treatment did or did not work.
How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?
The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.
What does the primary outcome measure?
Plasma GSK1349572 AUC(0-infinity), AUC(0-t), and Cmax. (time frame: 48 hours). It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.
Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?
No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.
How often is this information updated?
AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 9 Jun 2017.
