Study groups in NCT00959647
Study groupRoleWhat they receive
Vismodegib 150 mgExperimentalParticipants received 150 mg vismodegib orally once a day until disease progression, intolerable toxicity, or withdrawal from the study. If a participant had been receiving combination chemotherapy and/or biotherapy (FOLFOX, FOLFIRI, bevacizumab) in a parent study, the same combination chemotherapy and/or biotherapy as specified in the parent study could be continued in this study at the discretion of the investigator.
Receives: Drug: Vismodegib; Drug: FOLFOX; Drug: FOLFIRI; Drug: Bevacizumab

What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Incidence of Participants Who Experienced at Least One Adverse Event

Measured: From first dose of study treatment until 30 days following the last administration of study treatment (median [range] of treatment exposure: 397 [26 to 1493] days)

  2. Incidence of Participants Who Discontinued Treatment Due to an Adverse Event

Measured: From first dose of study treatment until 30 days following the last administration of study treatment (median [range] of treatment exposure: 397 [26 to 1493] days)

Secondary outcomes (1)
  1. Incidence of All Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events by Highest Severity Grade According to the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI CTCAE) Version 3.0

The investigator used the adverse event (AE) grading (severity) scale found in the NCI CTCAE v3.0 to assess AE severity, with grades ranging from 1 to 5 having the following descriptions: Grade 1 is mild, Grade 2 is moderate, Grade 3 is severe, Grade 4 is very severe, life threatening or disabling, and Grade 5 is death related to AE.

Measured: From first dose of study treatment until 30 days following the last administration of study treatment (median [range] of treatment exposure: 397 [26 to 1493] days)

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

A Phase 2 study testing Vismodegib, FOLFOX and FOLFIRI in people with Ovarian Cancer and Basal Cell Carcinoma, run by Genentech, Inc. at 10 sites in United States.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 2 inclusion and 1 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 8 May 2026. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 10 sites in United States. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

What does this phase mean?

Phase 2 studies give the treatment to a larger group to see whether it has the intended effect and to keep checking safety.

Not every study follows the same path, and some studies (observational studies, device studies) have no phase.

Are results available for this study?

Yes. Results are posted in the registry (first posted 7 Jan 2015). A summary is in the For doctors view, and the full results are on ClinicalTrials.gov.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Incidence of Participants Who Experienced at Least One Adverse Event (time frame: From first dose of study treatment until 30 days following the last administration of study treatment (median [range] of treatment exposure: 397 [26 to 1493] days)). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 8 May 2026.
