What is being measured

The primary outcome is the main question the study is designed to answer.

  1. Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA) at Month 36 in Intent-to-Treat (ITT) Population

Change in annual growth rate (AGR) standard deviation score (SDS) for chronological age (CA) derived by subtracting AGR SDS CA at baseline from each time point (Yx) value. AGR at Yx= (height Yx-height Y[x-1])/([date of Yx-date of Y{x-1}]/365.25). AGR as SDS calculated using Sempe reference means and standard deviations (SD) for growth rate. AGR SDS CA (for both baseline and Yx)= (AGR-reference mean for growth rate CA)/reference SD for growth rate CA. CA calculated as integer (Date of height measurement-Date of birth)/365.25*12. SDS indicates how similar participant was to reference population.

    Measured: Baseline, Month 36

  2. Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA) at Month 36 in Per-Protocol (PP) Population

Secondary outcomes (15)
  1. Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate at Month 12, Month 24 and Month 36 in ITT Population

Change in AGR at Yx was derived by subtracting AGR at baseline from Yx value. Annual growth rate was calculated each year and rescaled to 1 year if the interval between Yx and Y[x-1] was not 365 days, as long as a participant remained in the study. AGR at Yx was calculated using the previous height measurements (Y[x-1]) and height recorded at Yx (AGR Yx = [height Yx-height Y{x-1}] / ([date of Yx - date of Y{x-1}] /365.25).

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  2. Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate at Month 12, Month 24, Month 36 in PP Population

  3. Height

Height was measured using a wall mounted device (example, Harpenden stadiometer). The standing height of the participant was measured two times and the mean of these measurements was recorded.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  4. Change From Baseline in Height at Month 12, Month 24 and Month 36

Height was measured using a wall mounted device (example, Harpenden stadiometer). The standing height of the participant was measured two times and the mean of these measurements was recorded.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  5. Mean Height Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA)

Height was measured using a wall mounted device (example, Harpenden stadiometer). The standing height of the participant was measured two times and the mean of these measurements was recorded. Height SDS CA Yx = (height Yx - reference mean for CA Yx) / reference SD for CA Yx. Height in SDS was calculated using Sempe reference means and SD for height. CA calculated as integer (Date of height measurement-Date of birth)/365.25*12. SDS indicates how similar the participant was to the reference population.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  6. Change From Baseline in Height Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA) at Month 12, Month 24 and Month 36

Change in height SDS CA was derived by subtracting height SDS CA at baseline from Yx value. Height SDS CA (for both baseline and Yx) = (height - reference mean for CA)/reference SD for CA. Height in SDS was calculated using Sempe reference means and SD for height. CA calculated as integer (Date of height measurement - Date of birth)/365.25*12. SDS indicates how similar the participant was to the reference population.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  7. Mean Height Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Bone Age (BA)

Height SDS BA Yx = (height Yx - reference mean for BA Yx) / reference SD for BA Yx. Height in SDS was calculated using Sempe reference means and SD for height. BA was estimated locally using an X-ray from the left wrist and hand. SDS indicates how similar the participant was to the reference population.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  8. Change From Baseline in Height Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Bone Age (BA) at Month 12, Month 24 and Month 36

Change in height SDS BA was derived by subtracting height SDS BA at baseline from Yx value. Height SDS BA (for both baseline and Yx) = (height-reference mean for BA)/reference SD for BA. Height in SDS was calculated using Sempe reference means and SD for height. BA was estimated locally using an X-ray from the left wrist and hand. SDS indicates how similar the participant was to the reference population.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24, Month 36

  9. Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA) at Month 12 and Month 24 in ITT Population

Change in AGR SDS for CA derived by subtracting AGR SDS CA at baseline from Yx value.

Measured: Baseline, Month 12, Month 24

Questions about this trial

What is this clinical trial studying?

A Phase 3 study testing Somatropin in people with Endocrine System Diseases, run by Pfizer at 18 sites in France.

The full registered description is in the About this study section and the official record.

Who may be eligible to take part?

The sponsor lists 3 inclusion and 2 exclusion criteria. Eligibility is decided by the study team after screening, so read the full criteria and contact a listed site.

Is this clinical trial currently recruiting?

The record says: finished, as of the sponsor's last update on 19 Dec 2012. Status can change between updates, so confirm with the study contact before making plans.

Where is the study taking place?

The record lists 18 sites in France. Whether a site is taking part right now should be confirmed with that site. See every site.

What are the possible benefits and risks?

They depend on the study and the treatment, and no study can promise a benefit. The study team explains the known risks during informed consent, before anyone joins; the record itself does not list them.

What does this phase mean?

Phase 3 studies compare the treatment with the current standard treatment or a placebo in a large group, to confirm how well it works and watch for side effects.

Not every study follows the same path, and some studies (observational studies, device studies) have no phase.

Are results available for this study?

Yes. Results are posted in the registry (first posted 19 Dec 2012). A summary is in the For doctors view, and the full results are on ClinicalTrials.gov.

How can a doctor refer a patient or contact the research team?

The record lists no contact. The official record names the sponsor, who can be asked directly. AzTrials does not enrol participants or take referrals.

What does the primary outcome measure?

Change From Baseline in Annual Growth Rate Standard Deviation Score (SDS) for Chronological Age (CA) at Month 36 in Intent-to-Treat (ITT) Population (time frame: Baseline, Month 36). The study lists 2 primary outcomes in all. It is what the study was designed to measure, not a finding.

Where can I read the original study information?
Does a listing mean the treatment is approved or proven to work?

No. A listing means the study is registered. It does not show that the treatment is safe, works, or is approved by a regulator.

How often is this information updated?

AzTrials copies changed records from ClinicalTrials.gov every night and reloads the whole registry every week. The sponsor last updated this record on 19 Dec 2012.
